Love their bun thit nuong and ice coffee! Their banh mi is great for a quick bite, too. Usual mom and pop restaurant where the shop is run by family and helpers. You can seat yourself or wait for somebody to seat you. Service is friendly and fast. Good local place in the NW side of town for Vietnamese food. My son loved the shaking beef entree and my other son ate all of his egg noodle soup. Surprisingly they do have a variety of Vietnamese food to order from. I'd recommend this place & have taken friends here, too. Only downside is that they close early, like at 7pm.
Only place that makes the pho taste perfect and so good and like no other place , this is my favorite spot!
Came in on a Tuesday afternoon before my flight out of Houston and happened across this restaurant that was aptly named after one of my favourite vietnamese rice dishes. It was not too packed, and I was able to get a table by the window overlooking the busy plaza. The owners are a friendly vietnamese couple, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I ordered a vietnamese coffee (ca phe sua da), the BBQ pork vermicelli (bun thit nuong cha gio), a broken rice house special with pork chop (com tam thap cam suon) and one of the owners recommended the rice flour egg pancake (banh bot chien). Everything tasted delicious and appeared carefully made. I previously read this place can get really busy on weekends, which can be the bane of any restaurants existence as they can get very busy but today was a mellow day and I was able to enjoy a hearty lunch in a relaxed restaurant some decent views along the Sam Houston 249.
I am shocked this place isn't rated higher! You want a taste of home this is the place to go. Com Tam here is incredible. The flavorful beef, perfect rice, I am already looking forward to coming back as I am leaving. Some crunch from char with tender melt in your mouth pork. I would definitely suggest this place to you all who want the comfort of home with every bite. Grilled pork is perfectly charred and season. You don't need gimmicky modern or instagemable restaurant when the food shines on its own.
I highly recommend their banh mi! Their banh mi Dac Biet/thap cam is high quality and reasonably priced. I feel like a lot of Vietnamese restaurants have Americanized their sandwiches and prices are too high once they do that but Com Tam 9 gets it right with the authenticity with a fair price. The aroma of the pho and other dishes will bring me back for another visit.
It was the weekend and I just wanted some Vietnamese food. My boyfriend and I came here to try their food since we were also going to go to the market in the same plaza. When we came in, it wasn't too busy but there were a few guests sitting and eating or finishing up their meal. We sat down at a table and the waiter provided us menus once we picked a table. He gave us some time to look over the menu and then came back to take our order. I ordered Mi Bo Kho and my boyfriend ordered Com Tam with beef. We also asked for waters. We also ordered spring rolls for appetizers. However, our food came out before our spring rolls came out. The spring rolls were alright, mostly filled with noodles instead of meat but still good. The Mi Bo Kho was on the sweeter side, and it barely had any meat in it. There were probably only 5 small chuncks of meat which was disappointing. My boyfriend said his food was alright. He has had better but the meat was flavourful. The rice was alittle dry so using the fish sauce definitely helped and he had to ask for more. The utensils weren't originally provided to us until the waiter saw my boyfriend lift up his bowl of soup to drink it then he came over to provide a spoon to him. But by that time he was done with his meal so he declined the spoon. I might come back but try something else on the menu instead. Pricing isn't too bad and it's got alot of space for groups of 6+ to sit together. It can get loud because there's an echo in the restaurant.
Miếng với gói gà rất ngon. Com tam sườn bi chả. Banh Mi. Mi Bo Kho. Pork Chop Plate. Hu Tieu Dai Kho.
We came here for dinner after going to grocery store. The owner is very nice and sweet. We all ordered com tam since it was our first time here. The meat was very tender and egg cake was delicious. The price is very reasonable. We will come back to try other dishes.

Stumbled at this restaurant because I was craving banh mi and we were in the area. I was surprised at how good their sandwiches were! This place has now been my go-to for banh mis whenever I'm in the area - my church is about 10 minutes away. Even though their name is literally rice plates, I have yet to have their rice plates - so can't comment on that. However, if you love cafe sua da - theirs is tasty! ... and don't forget to add the coffee jelly!
